Auto Mechanic in Court Over Alleged Theft of N3m Vehicle

An auto mechanic, Sanusi Adeogun, who allegedly stole a Nissan Frontier pick-up, valued at N3 million on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Adeogun, 26, who resides at Balogun St., Ketu, Lagos, is facing a two count-charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Edet Okoi, told the court that the accused committed the offences with some others still at large in February 2017 at Lonex Garden Estate, Isheri North, Lagos.

Okoi said the accused stole the Nissan Frontier pick-up with registration no. LSD945 DU from Mr Adeniyi Babajide.

He said the accused took the vehicle which the complainant gave him to repair to an unknown destination and switch-off his cell phones.

“The police later arrested the accused at Ilaro in Ogun where he had sold off the vehicle for N750, 000,”he said.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
