Mercedes-Benz  in 2017 achieved its most successful year of all time. The foremost auto firm recorded  a grand total of 2,289,344 vehicles worldwide, a 9.9 percent increase compared to the previous year.

The all-time best yearly unit sales were driven by three core regions: Europe, Asia-Pacific and NAFTA. China is the single largest consumer of the three-pointed star brand.

Meanwhile, the C-Class Saloon and Estate continue to be the volume seller for the brand with more than 415,000 units sold within the past year. About a quarter of them were the long-wheelbase version of the C-Class Saloon, which is produced and sold exclusively for the Chinese market. This goes to show how important is it for carmakers to meet each individual market customers’ requirements.

Among Daimler’s diverse range of portfolio, the E-Class Saloon and Estate stood out to be the most popular model with over 350,000 units delivered to customers between January to December. This means that an increase of 40.0% was achieved in the first full sales year of the new generation. In China, sales of the E-Class Saloon more than doubled in 2017 driven by the high-demand for the long-wheelbase version.

Mercedes-Benz’s SUV range also saw a solid growth of 14 percent, standing at more than 805,000 units. The best-selling SUVs in 2017 were the GLC and GLA while the GLC coupe also played a strong role in driving SUV sales.
