Reps insist on compulsory listing of telecomms, oil & gas firms

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara  has reiterated the  commitment of lawmakers to pass laws to compel multinational oil and gas companies as well as telecommunication firms doing business in Nigeria to list their shares on the floor on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE).
  A statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the Speaker, Mr Turaki Hassan explained that  companies in the sectors must be listed on the capital market to deepen the market, make funds available for investors and create employment.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the speaker also called for severe sanctions against fraudulent stock market players as part of measures to strengthen the market and guarantee the safety of investors’ funds.
