Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc, at the weekend, rewarded 128 staff with long-service awards.

The company commended the staff for putting in between 15 and 25 years of meritorious service, adding that out of the 128 awardees, 107 are junior staff, 18 senior staff while three are outsourced senior staff to Human Assets company, a subsidiary of Okomu oil palm company.

Speaking at the event held at the company’s headquarters in Okomu, Ovia Southwest Local Government Area of Edo State, Managing Director, Dr. Graham Hefer, congratulated the awardees and urged them to reciprocate the gesture through the renewed commitment of services to the company.

Hefer assured the staff of the management’s continued commitment to providing a conducive environment that would enable them to give their all, adding that strong institutions and well-motivated staff remain veritable tools for the growth of any company.

He said that the environmental and health safety of its workers would never be compromised, adding that both management and staff could not afford to let down their safety guards.

“This is the reason we always ask staff to be top-notch with compliance with environmental and health protocols.

“What will be our gain if we drop our safety guards and allow the government to either sanction or close us down? Of course, there will be no more work or award ceremonies like the one we are holding now.”

Hefer said the 2021 long-service award is unique as three staff from Human Assets company, a subsidiary of Okomu oil, for the first time, were also rewarded for long service, with each of the staff, putting in 15 years of meritorious services.

The company handed over medium-sized freezers, generators, complete settees, king- and queen-sized beds, plasma TV, dining set, and detachable wardrobes to the awardees.
