CGC Bags Independent Public Servant Award

The Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has added another feather to his cap, winning the prestigious Independent Public Servant of the Year Award.
The award, presented by Independent Newspapers on Saturday, 15 March 2025, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, recognised the CGC’s outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s revenue generation and trade facilitation.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Comptroller-General, the Zonal Coordinator for Zone A, Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Charles Orbih, described it as a testament to the remarkable progress achieved under his leadership.
He said, “For the third time this year, the Service has been honoured under the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi. This shows that his efforts are being recognised and that he is encouraged to do more. His excellent performance in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and combating smuggling activities is being acknowledged.”
ACG Orbih highlighted the NCS’s impressive revenue generation, noting, “In 2024 alone, the NCS generated ₦6.1 trillion in revenue, a feat that is no small achievement.”
He attributed this success to the CGC’s leadership, saying, “Under his leadership, the Service has consistently intercepted and prevented the smuggling of arms, ammunition, and illicit drugs into the country.”
Dignitariess from various sectors, including senior government officials, business leaders, industry stakeholders, and Customs Area Comptrollers from Zone ‘A, attended the ceremony’.
