
Deep sorrow has enveloped the Catholic community in Nigeria following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of seven seminarians and left six others critically injured near the Obudu Mountain Resort.
According to the Catholic Broadcasting Commission, Nigeria, seven seminarians of the Capuchin Friars of Nigerian Custody, Ridgeway Community, Enugu State, who visited the Obudu Ranch Resort on a tour on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 are reported to have died in a bus crash at the Ikwete village at the Obudu Ranch Bottom Hill, in Obanlikwu Local Government Area of Cross River State.
This was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the Custos, Br. John-Kennedy Anyanwu, OFM Cap. He said “Thirteen of our brothers departed the Ridgeway Community, Enugu State, for Obudu, Cross River State, Nigeria, but unfortunately had a fatal accident.
“Seven of the brothers died as a result of the accident while six sustained various degrees of injuries.”
