As part of its continued efforts to enhance agricultural productivity across the state, the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA) has conducted its monthly field assessment at Agbowa.
The monitoring exercise, led by Professor Oluremi Ojo from the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Ibadan, in partnership with the LSADA technical team, was officially part of the Pre-Monthly Technology Review Meeting (Pre-MTRM). The objective was to assess farmers’ performance on the field, evaluate their productivity levels, and address production challenges.
The Pre-MTRM serves as a platform for the LSADA team to engage directly with farmers, identify both operational and environmental obstacles, and provide access to proven agricultural technologies to ensure food security in the State.
Following the field visit, the Monthly Technology Review Meeting (MTRM) took place on Thursday, bringing together components and unit heads, as well as LSADA management, to analyse observations from the previous day and be taught the next technology that will be disseminated over the next month.
The technical message delivered at the meeting focused on “Early Warning Signs and Surveillance for Monitoring Crop and Livestock Disease Outbreaks in Lagos State.” The session emphasised the need for practical, field-based strategies to improve farm productivity and tackle the challenges identified during the field exercise.
Speaking at the meeting, Director of Technical Services, LSADA, Dr. Isiah Opadokun highlighted the importance of translating field insights into actionable steps. He emphasised Agency’s commitment to implementing best agricultural practices through structured training, strategic resource allocation, and continuous monitoring.
Dr. Opadokun reaffirmed LSADA’s dedication to supporting farmers across Lagos State by transforming assessments into impactful interventions that promote food security, enhance livelihoods, and drive the sustainable development of agriculture.
