President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday night hosted the leadership of the National Assembly (NASS) to dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Earlier scheduled for last week, the dinner which was rescheduled for Tuesday had in attendance Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Deputy Speaker, Yusuff Lassun, Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan, House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, Senate Deputy Leader, Ibn Na’Allah, Senate Whip, Olusola Adeyeye and Deputy Senate Whip, Francis Alimikhena.
Also present were: the Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Bwacha, Minority Whip, Philip Aduda and Deputy Minority Whip, Biodun Olujimi, among others.
Also present were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the newly appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udo Udoma, National Assembly laiason officers, Ita Enang and Ismaila Kawu.
In a chat with Journalists after the dinner,Senate President Bukola Saraki pledged the cooperation of the National Assembly with the executive to ensure better administration of the country.
Saraki said: “As you know, since he got back we have not really had an opportunity to meet with him as part of the stakeholders.’’
The Senate President added that this was the first time for such interaction with the leadership of the National Assembly.
“The meeting was to welcome him to show our gratitude that he has come back healthy and continue to assure him that we will continue to cooperate with the executive and also to acknowledge the role we played while he was away that brought stability.
“We thank all the members for the patriotic approach they handled the administration’s affairs in his absence,’’ he said.
