The Executive Vice President, Downstream, NNPC Limited, Dr Mumuni Dagazau, has co-chaired a technical session on human capital development and talent management at the ongoing 2026 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).
Dagazau co-chaired the Downstream Technical Session, titled “Developing Future-Ready Talent for an Evolving Downstream Industry”, alongside Mr Ayman Ismaeil, Vice President, Government and Institutional Relations, Middle East and Africa, Hitachi Energy.
His participation followed his appointment to the ADIPEC Downstream Technical Committee in May 2026.
The session brought together industry experts to examine three critical areas of talent development, including building lasting safety capabilities, preparing leaders for crisis situations and the role of mentoring in sustaining talent development within the downstream industry.
Speaking at the session, Dagazau said the future competitiveness of downstream companies would increasingly depend on their ability to prepare their workforce for emerging challenges and effectively measure the impact of their talent development programmes.
He noted that as the downstream industry continues to undergo transformation, companies must shift attention from the volume of training activities to the actual capabilities and resilience such programmes develop.
According to him, effective human capital development must equip industry professionals with the skills and leadership capacity required to navigate crises and respond to the changing demands of the sector.
NNPC Limited is participating in ADIPEC 2026, which runs from November 2 to 5, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, investors and energy professionals from more than 170 countries.
The national oil company is showcasing its operations and investment opportunities at Stand A400 during the conference.
