The Head of Procurement, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Abiodun Dabiri, has been named the substantive Managing Director of the Authority by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
His appointment comes about one year after the pioneer Managing Director, Dr. Dayo Mobereola was named the State Commissioner for Transportation.
A statement issued by LAMATA’s External Relations Specialist, Kolawole Ojelabi, explained that the new Managing Director is adept in general organizational management, procurement management, project management and operational contract management.
He graduated with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos and had at various times worked in the lagos State Water Corporation, Nitoks Consultants Limited, WK Construction – Fechrad JV before joining LAMATA in 2008.
His appointment comes at a time LAMATA is in the throes of implementing the Lagos Strategic Transport Master Plan Project Phase 1 which envisions a network of bus, rail and water-based rapid transport system serving strategic activity centres across the state.
