There are no plans to impeach Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, the State House ofAssembly, declared on Tuesday in Yenagoa.

Speaking at an interactive session with Journalists, the House Committee Chairman on Information, Hon Tari Porri, said: “The 6th Assembly has no reason to impeach the Governor; we have never contemplated that before.’’

Porri, who described the claim as a rumour and a distraction, was reacting to reports that the Assembly was at dispute with the Executive over the disbursement of N38 billion refunds from the Federal Government.

He added: “The 6th Assembly under Speaker Abraham Ingobere has shown it does not know what those behind the alleged plot are talking about.

“We strongly believe that those peddling such rumour never meant well for our dear state.

“Under the leadership of Ingobere, we have never thought of such for a man who has started executing most of his promises to the people,’’ Porri said.

He condemned peddlers of such rumour and stressed that the Bayelsa Assembly had always worked with the governor to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Bayelsa.

The House Committee chairman said the 19 PDP members and the five APC members in the House work in synergy with the governor and the leadership of the Bayelsa Assembly.
