The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Lekki Deep Seaport Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding agricultural integrity through a series of strategic courtesy visits to key sister agencies operating within the port.
The delegation, led by Station Commander ACG (Dr.) Hamza Adamu, engaged with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), among other stakeholders, to strengthen collaboration and operational efficiency.
Speaking during the visits, Dr. Hamza stressed the critical role of inter-agency synergy in preventing the entry and spread of pests, diseases, and other harmful substances. He highlighted the need for enhanced information sharing, intelligence gathering, and coordinated enforcement actions among port agencies.
In response, stakeholders commended NAQS for its proactive engagement and reaffirmed their readiness to support joint initiatives. The engagements are expected to boost surveillance, streamline port operations, and promote a safer and more efficient maritime environment.
