The Executive Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Agbaje Lukmon Abiodun, has directed revenue officers to adopt greater accountability, innovation and efficiency in the collection of internally generated revenue.
Agbaje gave the charge at the 2026 Capacity Building Workshop for Revenue Officers, organised by the Council with the theme, “Revenue Optimisation & Collection Efficiency.”
The workshop brought together revenue officers and heads of revenue-generating departments as the administration intensifies efforts to improve revenue mobilisation and establish a more efficient and transparent financial system.
Represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Prince Ahmad Adeyinka Yusuf, the Chairman said the administration would continue to prioritise measures to block revenue leakages and ensure that all legitimate revenue accruing to the LCDA is properly captured and accounted for.
He stressed that a stronger revenue base was essential to the Council’s ability to provide infrastructure, social services and other developmental interventions for residents.
According to him, revenue collection must be driven by transparency and accountability, while funds generated by the Council must be responsibly utilised for the collective benefit of the people.
During the technical session, the facilitator, Mr. Adeniji, identified revenue leakages, unrecorded receipts, manual ticketing and inadequate databases as some of the challenges affecting revenue performance.
He urged the Council to deepen the digitalisation of its revenue processes, undertake comprehensive enumeration and maintain accurate and up-to-date revenue databases.
Adeniji also charged revenue officers to uphold professionalism and integrity while adopting innovative approaches to improve collection efficiency.
The workshop featured an interactive session during which participants examined existing challenges and proposed practical measures to strengthen monitoring, accountability and revenue mobilisation across the LCDA.
At the end of the programme, strategic action points were developed to improve revenue performance and enhance the efficiency of the Council’s collection mechanisms.
The initiative forms part of the Agbaje administration’s broader efforts to build a financially stronger and accountable local government where internally generated revenue is effectively mobilised and channelled towards development.
The administration reaffirmed that improved revenue generation remains essential to sustaining its development agenda and delivering more impactful services to residents of Ayobo-Ipaja.
It also reiterated its commitment to building a more efficient, accountable and prosperous Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA.
