Buhari: I’m Committed To Free, Fair Elections

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians and the International community of his government’s readiness to conduct a free and fair election beginning next week Saturday.

Speaking during a courtesy call on the Lamido Adamawa Alhaji Muhammadu Barkido Mustafa, at his palace, President Buhari said as a beneficiary of a free and fair election, he would go the extra mile to ensure that the forthcoming elections are conducted under a peaceful atmosphere.

“We are a beneficiary of a free and fair election and as the commander in chief, I will read the riot act that the security agencies allow people to vote for who they want to vote for,” the President said.

While thanking the people of Adamawa state for the rousing welcome on his arrival in the state, Buhari assured the traditional ruler of his government’s determination to completion all ongoing projects in the state.

Buhari who gave a thumb up for his government’s infrastructural development across the country added that he will continue to try to meet the “shopping lists” of the people of the state as presented by the traditional ruler.

In a welcome address, the Governor of Adamawa State Jubrila Bindow

The Lamido Adamawa while welcoming Buhari and his entourage to the state commended the President for his giant strides in governance, especially the war against corruption and appealed to him to sustain the stride.

“There is no doubt that much has been achieved but you still need much time to consolidate on the laudable programme of your government,” he said urging the President to keep faith with the electorates.

He expressed concern over the growing tensions in the country as election approaches and called for restraint so that the election can be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

While calling on those yet to collect their PVC to do so before Friday, the Lamido Adamawa charged security agencies to remain vigilant as the election appraoches.
