COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MONTHLY CONGRESS OF THE NIGERIA UNION OF JOURNALISTS (NUJ), LAGOS STATE COUNCIL, HELD ON SATURDAY, MARCH 13, 2021

The meeting Presided over by the Chairman of the Lagos State Council, Mr Adeleye Ajayi held at the Lagos NUJ Guest House situated at 3, Adeola Street, Off Apata Street, Somolu, Lagos State.

At the end of the meeting, some national issues were deliberated upon and the following resolutions were made:

1).The Council commended ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to distribute COVID-19 vaccines across the country.

2).Nigerians were urged to take precautions against further spread of COVID- 19, while the Federal Government should fast track plans geared towards providing more vaccines.

3).The Union also advised Nigerians to comply strictly with COVID-19 guidelines as spelt out by both Presidential Task Force and the various State Governments.

4.) The union tasked security agencies across the coutry on the need to brace up in the fight against insecurity ravaging some parts of the country.

5). The Union also enjoined the Federal Government to prevail on all relevant stakeholders to reverse recent increase in the prices of petroleum products in the country.

6). The Council appealed to relevant stateholders especially the state governments to revisit the isssue of minimun wage and ensure every body is carried along in the interest of peace and fairplay.
