The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on Wednesday, in Lagos, commenced preparations for the 2026 basic training programme for newly recruited officers and cadets with a retreat for trainers drawn from various disciplines.
The retreat, held at the Customs Training College in Lagos, brought together trainers responsible for key areas of the training programme, including drill, medical services, security, sports and other specialised disciplines.
Speaking at the event, the Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, said the retreat was part of new initiatives introduced by the Service to strengthen coordination and improve the quality of training.
According to Onyeka, the initiative was designed to bring trainers together on a common platform, rather than having them operate independently across separate segments of the training programme.
He said the approach would promote greater collaboration, uniformity and effective delivery of the 2026 basic training programme for the new recruits and cadets.
