The Dangote Group has announced a major strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to drive the next phase of expansion of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, marking a significant advancement in the company’s mission to build the world’s largest refining complex.
City Business News reports that under the new collaboration, Honeywell will provide cutting-edge technology, specialised catalysts, and advanced processing systems that will support the refinery’s plan to scale up its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028.
This upgrade will enable the facility to process a broader range of crude grades while enhancing product quality, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability.
Honeywell, a Fortune 100 global leader in industrial technologies, brings a diverse portfolio across automation, aviation, automotive, and advanced materials. Its UOP division has been a key technology partner to Dangote since 2017, supplying proprietary refining systems, catalyst regeneration equipment, column-tray technology, and heat-exchange systems that have contributed significantly to the refinery’s world-class performance standards.
As part of the expanded collaboration, Dangote is also strengthening its petrochemical operations. The Group is scaling its polypropylene production capacity to 2.4 million metric tons per annum using Honeywell’s Oleflex technology. Polypropylene remains a critical industrial input for packaging, automotive components, and manufacturing applications globally.
