The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, on Thursday joined Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima and other agency leaders in a key strategy meeting to advance the National Single Window (NSW) initiative—an ambitious project designed to streamline Nigeria’s port and customs operations.
The high-level meeting, chaired by the Vice President under the auspices of the Ports & Customs Efficiency Committee, tasked the NPA, the Nigerian Customs Service, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) with developing a comprehensive implementation framework for the NSW.
Dr. Dantsoho confirmed that the NPA has already begun aligning its processes with the requirements of the NSW, which is set to go live in 2026. “We are fully committed to ensuring that the NPA’s systems and infrastructure are fully optimized for a seamless transition into the NSW,” he stated.
The National Single Window platform is expected to transform Nigeria’s port environment by reducing vessel turnaround time, lowering shipping costs, and fostering enhanced transparency and efficiency in import and export procedures. It will serve as a unified digital portal for all regulatory transactions associated with vessel entry and exit.
With preparations now underway, the NSW is poised to become a game-changer in Nigeria’s maritime and trade landscape, improving the ease of doing business and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in global logistics and commerce.
