The Edo State Commissioner for Transportation, Saturday Uwuilekhue Idehen has received the Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of New Edo Line Transport Services Ltd., Mr. Smart Agbodion, and members of his management team following his recent appointment.
The visit followed a special government announcement by the Edo State Ministry of Transportation approving the termination of the appointment of the former Managing Director/CEO of the company and the subsequent appointment of Mr. Agbodion as Acting Managing Director, pending the selection of a substantive head.
During the meeting, Hon. Uwuilekhue congratulated Mr. Agbodion on his appointment and charged him to deploy his professional experience in restoring accountability, efficiency, and professionalism in the operations of New Edo Line Transport Services Ltd.
The Commissioner stressed the need for the company to align its operations with the broader transport reforms of the Edo State Government, assuring that the Ministry would continue to provide policy guidance and oversight to ensure the success of the state-owned transport company.
He further emphasized the Ministry’s expectations of transparency, teamwork, and strict adherence to due process in the management of the organisation.
In his response, the Acting Managing Director, Mr. Smart Agbodion, formally introduced himself and expressed appreciation to the Edo State Government for the confidence reposed in him.
Mr. Agbodion pledged his commitment to repositioning New Edo Line in line with the vision of the Edo State Government, with particular focus on efficient service delivery, operational discipline, and the restoration of public confidence in the state-owned transport system.
He also assured the Commissioner of the full cooperation of the management team with the Ministry of Transportation to ensure compliance with government policies and directives governing the transport sector.
The meeting also featured strategic discussions on strengthening the company’s operations and reinforcing the role of New Edo Line Transport Services Ltd. in providing safe, reliable, and affordable transportation services to residents of Edo State.
