Edo Unveils Manpower Development Scheme For Oil Palm Sector

The Edo State Government through the Edo State Oil Palm Programme (ESOPP) has called for applicants for its manpower development scheme aimed at growing a new crop of workers in its expansive oil plantation sector.
In a statement, Acting Team Lead, ESOPP, Churchill Oboh said the scheme is a collaboration between ESOPP, oil palm producers and the Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences.
According to him, “We are looking for people who are passionate about sustainable agriculture. The scheme is to train those who want to become experts in sustainable agriculture.
“The Edo State Oil Palm Programme (ESOPP) in collaboration with Oil Palm Producers and the Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources presents an opportunity for people to participate in the Manpower Development Scheme.
“We are offering comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and job placement for the role of Junior Plantation Operative.
On the qualifications required for the scheme, the Acting Registrar, Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Monday Owie said, “You need a minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate, with at least four credits including English Language and Mathematics. Experience in oil palm plantation is an added advantage. The candidates should be physically fit and not more than 35 years old.
