EFCC Monitors Local Government Elections In Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos Directorates 1 and 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Saturday joined other law enforcement agencies in monitoring the conduct of Local Government Elections across Lagos State.
The deployment was part of efforts to curb vote buying and ensure strict compliance with electoral laws.
The operation was led by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 and Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, CE Michael Nzekwe and acting Director, Lagos Directorate 2, ACE I Ahmed Ghali, the EFCC operatives monitored polling activities in several key areas across the state.
Their visible presence at the grassroots level underscored the Commission’s unwavering commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and institutional vigilance in Nigeria’s electoral processes.
Reports from the field indicated that the election exercise was largely peaceful, with many voters expressing appreciation for the EFCC’s proactive intervention.
Other security agencies also acknowledged the EFCC’s collaborative efforts, noting the Commission’s critical role in maintaining order and deterring electoral malpractices—particularly vote buying, which has plagued past elections. EFCC
