To ensure safer roads during the Ember Months, the Corps Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, has paid a strategic advocacy visit to the National Secretariat of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).
City Business News reports that Ogungbemide was received by the National President of RTEAN, Alhaji (Dr.) Musa Mohammed Maitokobi, who reiterated the association’s unwavering support toward the FRSC’s mandate of reducing road traffic crashes nationwide.
Speaking during the visit, Ogungbemide emphasized the critical role of stakeholder collaboration in curbing the spate of road accidents associated with increased vehicular movements and festive travels at year-end. He called on transport unions to actively engage in enlightenment and safety compliance campaigns as part of shared responsibility for road safety.
Responding, Alhaji Maitokobi commended the FRSC for its proactive engagement and pledged RTEAN’s readiness to partner on joint advocacy and sensitization initiatives. He assured the Corps that RTEAN, alongside other key transport bodies, will play its part in ensuring that road users across the country adhere strictly to traffic safety regulations.
“We remain committed to the success of the FRSC and will continue to support all initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives on our roads,” Maitokobi affirmed, adding that effective collaboration is key to achieving nationwide safety goals.
The advocacy visit is one of several ongoing engagements by the FRSC to amplify road safety awareness as part of its Ember Months campaign to reduce crashes to the barest minimum.
