The Federal Fire Service (FFS) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening fire safety, prevention and emergency preparedness across Customs facilities nationwide.
The agreement was signed at the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters in Abuja during a working visit by the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi.
Under the MoU, fire stations and other fire safety measures will be established across Customs facilities to enhance the protection of personnel, infrastructure and other critical assets.
The partnership is expected to strengthen fire prevention measures and ensure prompt and effective response to emergencies within Customs formations across the country.
Speaking during the engagement, CGF Adeyemi described the partnership as an important step towards enhancing fire safety and emergency response within the Nigeria Customs Service.
He urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as other public institutions, to prioritise fire safety and collaborate with the Federal Fire Service to protect lives, assets and critical national infrastructure.
The Controller-General stressed the importance of proactive fire prevention measures, noting that effective collaboration among government institutions remains essential to reducing fire risks and safeguarding critical facilities.
The Federal Fire Service said the agreement underscores its commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships and promoting a robust fire safety culture across the country.
