Four Journalists emerge winners of PwC media excellence awards, gets N2million

    Out of 123 entries, four Nigerian Journalists have emerged winners of the 2017 PwC’s media excellence awards.

  The award ceremony was held on Friday evening in Lagos and had in attendance print, electronic and online financial Journalists.

   Now in its second year, the PwC media excellence awards celebrate and rewards excellence in business reporting in Nigeria.

 The competition is open to professional Journalists on a full time employment or freelancers working in Nigeria.

  According to PwC, participants “must have produced a story that falls within the categories covered by the award and is available on a platform whose primary audience is Nigeria”.

  For 2017, the winners are: Collins Nweze (The Nation), Nkiruka Nnorom (Vanguard), Isaac Anyaogu (BusinessDay) and Victor Ekwealor (TechPoint NG).

  In the Business and Economy cartigory, Victor Ekwealor (TechPoint NG) emerged winner with a story titled: “Can technology help dried fish nourish Nigeria economy?”

 Nkiruka Nnorom (Vanguard) picked the prize for the capital market cartigory with a story titled: “furore over conversion of dollar debt to equities”. Collins Nweze (The Nation) and Isaac Anyaogu (BusinessDay) also emerged victories in the Tax and Small and Media Enterprises (SMEs) cartogories respectively. The winners got N500,000 each.

  Explaining further on the modalities, Tax partner and Head & Regulatory Services, PwC West Africa, Taiwo Oyedele said originality attracted 15 percent, relevance 15 per cent,  language skills 20 per cent, quality of research and insight 20 per cent and balance 30 per cent.

   Earlier, country senior partner, PwC Nigeria, Uyi Akpata commended all participants, adding that “At PwC, our purpose is to build trust in society and solve problems”.
