The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Tuesday held the 12th Valedictory Lecture Series, an annual intellectual engagement established to celebrate senior officers who have made outstanding contributions to national development and road safety administration.
City Business News reports that this year’s edition honoured the distinguished career of Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM) Chidiebere Benjamin Nkwonta (Rtd), — a seasoned officer whose service to the nation is marked by loyalty, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to public safety.
Delivering a compelling lecture titled “How to Navigate the Vagaries of the Nigerian Public Service: My Experience, A Good Teacher,” DCM Nkwonta shared profound reflections on leadership, perseverance, institutional transformation, and the critical role of mentorship in building an efficient and ethical public service.
The event attracted a host of eminent personalities, including the Chairman of the Occasion, Chief Osita Chidoka, OFR — former Minister of Aviation and former Corps Marshal of FRSC — who was represented by DCM Kenneth Nwaegbe (Rtd). Other dignitaries present were the Chairman, House Committee on Pensions, Hon. Prince Laide Mohammed; former Minister of Information, Hon. Frank Nwaeke Jr.; and the National Coordinator, Special Marshals, Engr. Usman Adaji, among others.
In his remarks, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, on behalf of the management and staff of the FRSC, congratulated DCM Nkwonta on a successful and impactful career, describing him as a trailblazer whose legacy continues to inspire excellence and commitment to the Corps’ mandate of ensuring safer roads across Nigeria.

“DCM Nkwonta’s contributions to road safety administration and public service integrity remain exemplary. His dedication and leadership have left an indelible mark on the institution and the nation at large,” the Corps Marshal noted.
The valedictory lecture reaffirmed the FRSC’s dedication to celebrating excellence, fostering intellectual discourse, and promoting the values of service, discipline, and integrity among its officers.
DCM Nkwonta’s career, the Corps stated, will continue to serve as a beacon of motivation for both serving and future officers in their collective pursuit of safer highways and a more efficient public service system.
