FRSC, Rivers Partner To Tackle Car Theft As Fubara Becomes Special Marshals Patron

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Rivers State Government have entered a new phase of collaboration to combat vehicle theft and strengthen road safety across the State. This strategic partnership was unveiled on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Port Harcourt, during an official working visit by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, who also presided over the formal investiture of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, as Patron of the FRSC Special Marshals.
The ceremony, held at the Government House, Port Harcourt, was part of the activities marking the flag-off of the 2025 Ember Months National Town Hall Meetings. Governor Fubara used the occasion to announce a new initiative led by the State’s Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the FRSC. The initiative involves the development of a comprehensive vehicle tracking and data-sharing framework designed to enhance real-time security coordination, vehicle identification, and swift response to cases of theft or criminality.
Speaking during the event, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of technology-led security solutions in modern governance. He assured the FRSC of the State’s full commitment to improving public safety and building greater confidence in the transport sector through innovation and inter-agency collaboration.
“We are not only securing our roads but also ensuring that every vehicle is properly monitored to deter criminal activity,” the Governor stated.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed commended the Rivers State Government for its proactive approach and unwavering support to the FRSC.
He described the Governor’s investiture as a deserving recognition of his dedication to safety, accountability, and effective leadership.
The Corps Marshal and Governor Fubara later jointly flagged off the 2025 Ember Months National Town Hall Meetings in Port Harcourt.
The initiative aims to deepen road safety awareness nationwide, particularly during the high-risk Ember Months period, by engaging stakeholders and promoting responsible driving behavior.
