The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has issued a nationwide directive mandating all construction companies operating on Nigerian roads to immediately provide, maintain, and consistently update road signs at every active or inactive construction site.
Mohammed said the directive is necessary to safeguard the lives of motorists and other road users navigating construction zones, noting that proper signage is a critical component of road safety.
He condemned the recurring failure of some construction firms to place adequate warning, information, and diversion signs around project areas, describing the lapses as dangerous, unprofessional, and unacceptable.
To guarantee full compliance, the Corps Marshal has ordered all FRSC Commanding Officers across the federation to commence strict and immediate enforcement of the directive.
The FRSC further warned that any construction company found violating the order will face appropriate sanctions, reiterating its commitment to reducing road crashes and enhancing safety on Nigerian highways.
