
In the early hours of Monday, 17th November 2025, armed bandits stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko district of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, abducting 25 students in a violent attack.
According to reports received at about 0400hrs, the gang of heavily armed assailants invaded the school premises, firing sporadically as they advanced toward the hostels.
Police tactical units stationed at the school engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel, but the armed bandits had already scaled the school’s perimeter fence and successfully whisked the students away to an unknown location.
During the attack, one civilian, Hassan Makuku, was shot dead, while another victim, Ali Shehu, sustained a gunshot wound to his right hand.
Following the incident, a combined team of additional police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes was immediately deployed to the area.
The joint security forces are currently combing suspected bandit routes and nearby forest areas with the aim of rescuing the abducted students and apprehending the perpetrators.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, condemned the attack and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, and to continue supporting security operations aimed at restoring peace and stability.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, released the statement on behalf of the Commissioner, assuring the public that all efforts are being intensified to ensure the safe return of the students and bring the attackers to justice.
