An Ibadan-based businessman, Samuel Ademokoya, on Thursday urged a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve his 12-year-old marriage to his estranged wife, Victoria, because he was tired of her lifestyle.
In his petition before Chief Ademola Odunade, the President of the court, Samuel, a resident of Apata area of Ibadan, also said that his wife had continuously made life difficult for him through constant threats to his life.
The father of three said: “Despite the fact that I usually provide all of Victoria’s needs, she is still engaged in infidelity.
“To confirm my numerous suspicions, I saw a chat between her and one Real Estate Manager, her concubine, where they were both describing their escapades and one of her children even saw it.
“Moreover, Victoria, is such a dirty woman  who lacks ability to take care of a home.
“She lives most of her life visiting and taking instructions from her mother, thus making herself her mother’s pet.
“ Victoria is also arrogant and never willing to submit to me.”
He further said that his wife was doing everything to get rid of him or suppress him spiritually and had not hidden such intention through numerous dreadful statements to him
Victoria, who did not deny some of the allegations, consented to divorce.
The respondent, a caterer, however, shed light on the reasons why she agreed to part ways with her husband.
Victoria informed the court that Samuel had never been a responsible husband and father.
“My lord, Samuel is a thief and mostly insatiable.
“He had done everything to ruin my catering business because he keeps collecting my money without refunding it.
“Though he saw the chat I had with a man, but I swore to him then that no man had ever had sexual intercourse with me,” Victoria said.
She also explained that the house in which they both live was jointly built by both of them and therefore prayed the court to ensure that her own share was given to her.
In his judgment, Odunade dissolved the marriage, citing threat to life as the major reason for the court’s decision.
He, however, granted custody of the three children produced by the marriage to the respondent and ordered the petitioner to pay N20,000 as the children’s monthly feeding allowance.
NAN report that the arbitrator also directed Samuel to pay for a year’s rent for the children and wife’s accommodation.
“In addition, he shall pay N5,000 to enable her move all her belongings,” Odunade said
