Feelers emanating from Integrated Logistics Services (Intels) on Wednesday indicated that the company is to reduce further its workforce “due to ongoing challenges and hostile business environment”.

A source at the headquarters of the seaport concessionaire in Onne, Rivers State told one of our reporters on Wednesday that the management was planning further cut down on the number of employees.

Explaining further, the source said: “There is tension here. We (workers) are worried. Nobody is sure of anything. The management is not telling us anything. But, I can tell you authoritatively that the management is planning to sack more workers”.

However, a senior management employee of the company, who also spoke on condition of anonymity refuted the planned disengagement of workers.

He said: “It is not true. We are facing challenges. The issues will be over very soon. The business climate is not very friendly as we speak. But, it is under control”.
