KIA Motors Nigeria has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and the Nigerian Senate for the passage of the Electric Vehicle Transition and Green Mobility Bill 2025 — a landmark legislation expected to accelerate Nigeria’s shift towards sustainable transportation.
Describing the bill as a transformative milestone that aligns seamlessly with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the automobile firm noted that the move places Nigeria firmly on the path of clean energy adoption and future-focused mobility.
As one of Nigeria’s leading automobile and electric vehicle manufacturers, KIA Motors Nigeria said it has long anticipated the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s transition.
With its ultra-modern vehicle assembly plant, commitment to achieving over 70% local content, and inclusive industrial practices, the company says it is well-prepared to support the next phase of green transportation.
According to the company, the EV Transition Bill will open up thousands of skilled jobs, expand local manufacturing capacity, reduce the cost of electric vehicles, and energize economic growth through sustainable innovation.
“This bill reflects a decisive commitment by the government of President Tinubu to secure Nigeria’s future through clean energy and industrial growth. KIA is fully aligned with this vision and remains ready to collaborate with government agencies, investors, and partners to accelerate the transition to electric mobility,” said Jacky Hathiramani, Chief Executive Officer of KIA Motors Nigeria.
He added: “We also extend our deep appreciation to Dr Orji Uzor Kalu for championing the bill and to President Tinubu for his forward-thinking leadership.
“We reaffirm our capacity and readiness to support the government’s implementation efforts, ensuring Nigerians benefit from affordable, high-quality electric cars, buses, and commercial vehicles assembled locally.”
With its track record of innovation, a skilled local workforce, and dedication to environmental responsibility, KIA Motors Nigeria says it is prepared to lead the next chapter of Nigeria’s automotive revolution — one powered by clean energy, local talent, and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The proposed legislation aims to establish a national framework for electric vehicle transition, boost local manufacturing, and reinforce Nigeria’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability.
