Briefing Journalists, the  Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi explained that the initiative is part of the administration’s efforts to reduce indiscriminate parking and enhance vehicular movement across the state. The Commissioner emphasised that the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) was established to regulate illegal parking, eliminate obstructions on roadways, deliver a world-class parking system, and promote voluntary compliance with the Lagos State parking policy.

Speaking further, Osiyemi said that the government has zoned the state’s parking scheme into five key areas: Ikeja, Ikoyi, Lekki, Victoria Island, and Surulere, adding that this strategic zoning is expected to streamline parking operations and minimise congestion caused by unauthorised parking practices.
