LCCI Downstream Group Holds Symposium On Competitive, Secure Petroleum Industry.

The Petroleum Downstream Group of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has concluded a major industry symposium focused on strengthening Nigeria’s petroleum downstream sector in a deregulated economy.
The symposium, held under the theme, “Building a Competitive, Secure, and Sustainable Petroleum Downstream Industry in a Deregulated Economy,” brought together key stakeholders to examine challenges and opportunities in the downstream petroleum industry and their implications for Nigeria’s economic growth.
In his opening remarks, the President and Chairman of Council, LCCI, Engr. Leye Kupoluyi, underscored the importance of sustained private-sector dialogue in addressing critical economic and industry challenges.
Welcome remarks were delivered by the Chairman of the LCCI Petroleum Downstream Group, Mr. Collins Ogbu.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Oluwole Adama, Executive Director, Midstream & Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF), represented by Mr. Elvis Duruji, Deputy Chief Chemical Engineer, MDGIF, examined key pathways to powering Nigeria’s economic recovery, with emphasis on the role of the petroleum and gas sectors.
The symposium also featured contributions from prominent industry stakeholders, including Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji, President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD); Mr. Nsikan Anthony Usoro, Chief Operating Officer, Mainland Oil & Gas Co. Ltd.; and Mrs. Moroti Adedoyin-Adeyinka, Chairman, Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), represented by the association’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Olufemi Adewole.
Also contributing to the discussions was Mr. Huub Stokman, Chairman, Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN), represented by its Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Clement Isong.
Other speakers included Dr. Emeka Akabogu, SAN, Senior Partner, Akabogu and Associates, and Mr. Emmanuel Omuojine, Managing Director, Rainoil Limited, who is responsible for Strategy, Operations and Energy.
Discussions at the symposium centred on strengthening competitiveness, energy security, investment, regulatory effectiveness and sustainability within Nigeria’s deregulated downstream petroleum market.
The LCCI reaffirmed its commitment to providing platforms for constructive dialogue on issues shaping Nigeria’s economic policy and business environment.
The Chamber also expressed appreciation to the speakers, panellists, partners and participants for their contributions to the success of the symposium.
