Mikano Motors, Durojaiye Relief Foundation Strengthen Road Safety Partnership

Durojaiye Relief Foundation (DRF) in Partnership with Mikano Motors, recently in Lagos State, organized a road safety campaign aimed at sensitizing motorists and pedestrians on road safety tips and culture.

 According to the organizers, the event, supported by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) was put together to promote a safer travel experience on Lagos roads.

The campaign kicked off with a courtesy visit from DRF’s Executive Committee and LASTMA’s Mayor Commandant to Mikano International’s Motors Division Headquarters for a briefing of the planned activities for the road safety awareness campaign.

The briefing session was followed by a two-day road show, where members of the NURTW Lagos chapter and other road users were sensitized on the importance of obeying basic traffic and safety rules such as using safety belts, avoiding distractions; not texting and driving, not driving while under the influence or fatigued amongst other vital Road safety best practices.

Information made available to City Business News indicates that at the Road Safety Road Show, members of the National Union of Road Safety Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Chapter and other Motorists were also briefed on the critical role of vehicle maintenance and how to keep their vehicles in best form through maintenance and safety of the safety of passengers across the state.

The event organizers also used this opportunity to remind motorists to adhere to road transport best practices such as using safety belts, “no texting and driving, no drinking and driving, and no driving while intoxicated or fatigued”.

Speaking on behalf of Mikano, Marketing Manager,  Karima Okunola said: “Mikano International has always supported road safety activities, with several of our staff serving dutifully as traffic mayors. With the advent of our Motors division, we are seeking opportunities to work even more closely with the relevant agencies to make our roads safer”. 

 In his submission, Chairman Durojaiye   Relief Foundation, Akanni Kazeem said: “We are pleased to have the support of Mikano International for this road safety campaign and look forward to future successful collaborations”.
