Minister insist on ports’ audit

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has reiterated Federal Government resolve to audit operations and activities at the nation’s Seaports.
    Speaking in Abuja after a meeting with the management of Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC) and Port concessionaires, the minister explained that the development is expected to fast-track clearing of goods and enhance the nation’s economy.
  According to the minister, the outcome of the audit would guide Government policy formulation in the maritime sector.
   The Minister recently explained that plans were on-going for the re-establishment of a National Shipping Line.
  He  also  called for the re-examination of the implementation guidelines of the Cabotage Act, with the aim of enhancing indigenous participation in ship building and ship acquisition.
