MultiChoice Nigeria has appointed Ms Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, with effect from January 2026, following the retirement of Mr John Ugbe.
The pay-TV company announced the appointment in a statement issued on Monday, noting that Omotosho will assume leadership after Ugbe steps down at the end of a distinguished tenure spanning nearly 15 years.
Ugbe, who has led MultiChoice Nigeria through significant industry and market transitions, is retiring after overseeing periods of growth, innovation and major shifts in the pay-TV and media landscape.
Omotosho brings more than two decades of experience across media, telecommunications and digital services in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. She has held several senior leadership roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa.
Until her appointment, she served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she had overall responsibility for operations across seven countries.
Commenting on her appointment, Omotosho described Nigeria as a strategic and dynamic market for the Group, expressing enthusiasm about leading the business at a critical period.
“It is a privilege to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at this important moment. Nigeria remains one of the Group’s most strategic and dynamic markets,” she said. “I look forward to working with our teams and partners to deepen our relationship with consumers, champion local storytelling and the creative economy, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value.”
MultiChoice added that Ugbe’s retirement and Omotosho’s appointment followed a structured transition process designed to ensure continuity and stability in the company’s operations.
