NADDC, Sector Skills Council Unveil Training Manual On CNG, EVs

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has received members of the Automotive Sector Skills Council at its headquarters in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen capacity development and standards in Nigeria’s automotive industry.
City Business News reports that the visit was aimed at presenting a comprehensive automotive manual jointly developed by NADDC and the Sector Skills Council for industry use.
Speaking during the presentation, President of the Automotive Sector Skills Council, Best Nnodim, explained that the manual was designed for automotive professionals, training institutions, regulatory agencies, and awarding bodies to support effective industry application and standards development.
According to him, the manual provides extensive guidelines on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) systems and Electric Vehicles (EVs), covering operations, safety standards, conversion procedures, and maintenance practices.
He disclosed that the CNG component contains nine modules, while the Electric Vehicle section consists of ten modules tailored to address emerging industry needs.
Nnodim added that the document integrates engineering expertise, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and practical field experience necessary for the rapidly evolving automotive sector.
He noted that the EV section was specifically developed for training, workshop instruction, and maintenance practices for professionals transitioning into EV services, which require advanced electrical expertise beyond conventional vehicle servicing.
Director-General of NADDC, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, commended the collaborative efforts behind the initiative, stressing the importance of structured training and certification in strengthening Nigeria’s automotive workforce.
Osanipin said the initiative would also support Nigeria’s transition toward cleaner, safer, and more sustainable mobility solutions.
