The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Friday decorated 38 senior officers with the rank of Wing Commander during a ceremony held at the NAF Officers’ Mess in Abuja.
Describing the promotion as a recognition of discipline, character, and sustained excellence, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sani Abubakar Aneke, said the advancement reflects the officers’ professionalism and readiness to assume higher command responsibilities.
Represented by the Chief of Administration, Headquarters NAF, AA Martins, the Air Chief noted that the newly promoted officers have consistently demonstrated strong leadership, sound judgment, and commitment required to drive mission success in a complex security environment.
He emphasised that evolving security challenges demand officers who are adaptable, focused, and decisive, expressing confidence that the new Wing Commanders would strengthen command effectiveness and enhance ongoing air operations.
According to him, leadership goes beyond rank, requiring integrity, courage, and the ability to inspire others. He charged the officers to lead with fairness, serve with honour, and uphold the core values of the Service in support of national security objectives.
In his remarks, the Commander, Headquarters NAF Camp Abuja, Imoke, urged the officers to see their elevation as both an achievement and a call to greater responsibility.
He encouraged them to wear the new rank with humility, professionalism, and dedication, in line with the traditions and ethos of the Nigerian Air Force.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, families, and well-wishers, highlighting the importance of the promotion in strengthening the leadership structure and operational capacity of the Air Force.
