
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the redeployment of several senior officers in a strategic move aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening synergy, and aligning the Service’s structure with the command philosophy of the newly appointed Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.
The latest postings, approved by the CAS, affect key appointments at Headquarters NAF, field commands, and units across the country. According to Air Marshal Aneke, the reshuffle forms part of ongoing efforts to optimise command effectiveness, improve decision-making processes, and reinforce mission readiness in response to the nation’s evolving security environment.
Under the new arrangement, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdullahi has been appointed Chief of Policy and Plans, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun takes over as Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna. Similarly, AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye assumes duty as Group Managing Director, Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL) Group of Companies, and AVM Precious Amadi becomes Chief of Operations.
In the intelligence and evaluation directorates, AVM Nnamdi Ananaba has been named Chief of Air Intelligence, while AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe takes charge as Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation. AVM Ahmed Dari now serves as Chief of Training, with AVM Mohammed Ibrahim appointed Chief of Transformation and Innovation — a move that underscores the Service’s growing focus on technology-driven efficiency and modernization.
In the logistics and engineering sectors, AVM Olufemi Ogunsina is the new Chief of Aircraft Engineering, while AVM Michael Onyebashi assumes command as Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Mobility Command. AVM David Pwajok has been appointed Chief of Communication and Information Systems, and AVM John Ukeh becomes Air Provost Marshal.
To further strengthen NAF’s administrative and welfare systems, AVM Simon Peter is now Managing Director, NAFIL Housing and Construction Company, while AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka takes over as Air Secretary. AVM Anthony Martins has been appointed Chief of Administration, AVM Abubakar Sule becomes AOC, Logistics Command, and AVM Abdulrasheed Kotun is now Managing Director, NAF Farms. Additionally, AVM Edward Gabkwet has been named Chief of Civil-Military Relations, and AVM Osichinaka Ubadike assumes duty as Deputy Commandant, AFIT.
Other senior officers, including AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, Muhammed Suleiman, Jibrin Usman, and Japheht Ekwuribe, have been redeployed to various defence and inter-service establishments in line with efforts to strengthen joint operations and national defence coordination.
The Nigerian Air Force described the reshuffle as a strategic measure designed to ensure balanced leadership, institutional effectiveness, and sustained momentum in its transformation drive.
With this new wave of appointments, the NAF is poised to consolidate its achievements and usher in an era of smarter, more adaptive air operations — one that reflects the CAS’s vision of a force built not merely for power, but for purpose, protection, and progress.
