National Wire Launches Business Journalism Award for Nigerian Campus Journalists

National Wire, a Nigerian news website has announced the launch of the National Wire Campus Business Journalism Award.

The award is an initiative aimed at recognising and celebrating exceptional business journalism among student journalists in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. 

The award provides a unique opportunity for aspiring journalists to showcase their skills in business reporting, with winners standing the chance to receive cash prizes, certificates, and internships with prominent media outlets. 

Beyond the awards, top winners will also benefit from mentorship sessions with seasoned journalists and financial analysts, providing invaluable career insights and professional guidance.

The award is split into three main categories:

– Best Business Feature Story

– Best Data Driven Business Report

– Best Campus Journal of the Year

Eligibility for the award is open to student journalists enrolled in recognised Nigerian tertiary institutions, who must submit links to their  published stories up to 1,300 words. Entries should be published between 1st October, 2023 and 16th October, 2024.

Key Dates to Note:

– Call for Entries: October 10, 2024

– Submission Deadline: November 10, 2024

– Award Ceremony: January 2025

According to National Wire, this initiative aims to foster a culture of financial journalism in Nigeria, equipping the next generation of journalists with the skills needed to thrive in a data-driven media environment.
