The Midstream Division of the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate at the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) on Monday convened a one-day Midstream Stakeholders Sensitization Workshop in Port Harcourt, aimed at reinforcing compliance and boosting local capacity development within the sector.
Representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Acting Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Silas Ajimijaye, reiterated the Board’s unwavering commitment to deepening Nigerian content implementation and fostering stronger collaboration among operators in the midstream value chain.
Ajimijaye emphasized that the workshop was part of ongoing efforts to ensure that companies operating in the midstream segment fully understand and align with statutory requirements, particularly as the industry moves toward more ambitious local content targets.
During the interactive session, Board officials and key industry stakeholders delivered detailed presentations on critical provisions of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act. Discussions centered on compliance obligations, reporting standards, strategies for developing indigenous capacity, and practical pathways to achieving the Board’s target of 70 percent Nigerian Content by 2027.
Participants were also guided on best practices for embedding local content considerations into project planning, procurement processes, and workforce development initiatives, in line with national objectives.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Patrick Opowe expressed appreciation to participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions throughout the workshop. He urged stakeholders to internalize the key lessons and apply the insights gained to further strengthen Nigerian content development across the midstream sector.
The sensitization programme underscores NCDMB’s continued drive to promote sustainable growth, enhance indigenous participation, and ensure that the benefits of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry are retained within the national economy.
