NDPC, CIPEN Seal MoU

To formalise the partnership between the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and the Chartered Institute of Power Engineers of Nigeria (CIPEN), both organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the NDPC headquarters.
Speaking during the MoU signing, the National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Dr Vincent Olatunji, noted that the Commission’s mandate is extensive and cannot be achieved in isolation, which underscores the need for a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to drive the implementation of the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDP Act), 2023.
Dr Olatunji further stated that the partnership, which has already commenced with the training of CIPEN members by the Commission, will add value to both NDPC and CIPEN, while strengthening data protection compliance within the power sector.
In his remarks, the President of CIPEN, Engr. Israel Abraham expressed his delight at the signing of the MoU and noted that he looks forward to its effective implementation to advance data protection practices in the power sector. He described the agreement as the beginning of a more strategic and impactful partnership between the NDPC and CIPEN.
