Africa’s leading electric mobility company, Spiro has rolled out its growth agenda for Nigeria in 2027, with plans to expand its battery-swapping infrastructure, enter additional states and deepen access to affordable electric motorcycles.
City Business News reports that the company also formally introduced Mr. Prasad Sane as its new Managing Director and Country Head of Spiro Nigeria at the second edition of its Media Connect event held in Lagos on Friday.
The event brought together journalists covering auto, business, technology, mobility and sustainability to discuss the company’s progress and plans to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Sane said the company would prioritise strengthening its presence in Lagos, Ogun and Oyo states while extending its operations to additional locations across the country.
With 102 stations across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Benue States, the company has unveiled plans to consolidate growth in Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, among others.
To sustain its growth agenda, the company has trained over 254 mechanics/technicians with plans underway to train more riders in 2027.
According to Sane, the strategy would focus on expanding battery-swapping stations and service centres, improving rider support and building partnerships to make electric motorcycles more accessible to Nigerians.
“My mandate is simple: to make Spiro the most trusted, affordable, and accessible electric mobility solution for Nigerians, beginning with Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States,” he said.
According to him, the company is working towards building a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem that goes beyond motorcycles to include reliable battery-swapping infrastructure and supporting services.
“With our battery-swapping technology, riders can replace depleted batteries in under a minute and get back on the road without worrying about fuel costs, charging time, or excessive maintenance expenses,” Sane said.
He added that the model would help reduce carbon emissions, create economic opportunities, support small businesses and improve livelihoods.
As part of its 2027 agenda, Spiro plans to accelerate the deployment of battery-swapping stations and service centres in its priority markets to improve convenience and ensure riders have easier access to operational support.
The company also intends to expand beyond its existing markets, bringing electric mobility solutions to more Nigerians while strengthening the efficiency and reliability of its battery-swapping network.
Spiro said it would deepen partnerships with financial institutions, logistics companies and rider communities to improve access to electric motorcycles.
The company’s growth strategy also includes scaling local assembly operations, technical training and after-sales support services to create employment opportunities, particularly for Nigerian youths and women.
Sane said the expansion would position Spiro to contribute more significantly to Nigeria’s transition towards cleaner transportation while supporting economic activities linked to electric mobility.
The Media Connect event also featured product demonstrations, operational showcases and the unveiling of the Spiro Ekon M1 Version 3, alongside an interactive question-and-answer session with journalists.
The company said the engagement was designed to provide updates on its operational progress, infrastructure expansion and long-term commitment to the Nigerian market.
Spiro, which received the West Africa Sustainable Award (WASA), reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to advance the adoption of electric mobility.
Sane also used the opportunity to acknowledge the media’s role in promoting awareness and public understanding of emerging transportation technologies.
“The media plays a critical role in shaping awareness and driving adoption of innovative solutions such as electric mobility,” he said, adding that the company valued its partnership with journalists in promoting sustainable transportation.
