Nigeria to host Maritime Ports and Terminals Expo

  Facilitators of the 9th Nigeria International Maritime Port and Terminal Conference and Exhibition (NIMPORT 2016)  have concluded plans to host the event between  23-25 August 2016 at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
  According to the organisers, NIMPORT is an annual International Conference and Exhibition event designed to promote development and attract investment into the Maritime Ports and Logistics sector.
  A statement issued on Tuesday explained that NIMPORT 2016 is organized by FCI International Ltd, an international development consulting company, with the collaboration and support of the Nigeria Maritime Business Promotion Committee members.
 Other strategic partners according to the statement include: “The Federal Ministry of Transportation,  Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Nigeria Navy, Nigeria Customs, Nigeria Inland waterways, INTEL, LADOL, NEPZA, NEPC, among others.
Chairman of the organising committee, Mr Fortune Idu, explained that “NIMPORT 2016 is planned to bring together all maritime industry leaders to network and discuss on pressing issues relating to global maritime trade, port and logistics development and the role the industry plays in Nigeria’s quest for economic diversification and improvement in the non-oil export”.
 According to him, the programme titled: “Enhancing the Logistics Chain to Facilitate Global Export Trade Access” is put together to identify with the need for Nigeria to begin to produce for export as a way to resolve the dwindling economic fortunes and a call to the Port terminal and logistics sector to begin to re-plan, adapt, rebuild and invest in facilities and services to support this national aspiration”.
