NIMASA Donates Relief Items To Imo Victims Of Attacks, Others

The Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has donated relief materials to the Imo Government in support of families affected by unknown gunmen’s attacks, COVID-19, #EndSARS and other incidents in the state. 

Some of the items donated included: 15 bags of 50kg rice, 25 bags of 25kg rice, 80 tubers of yam, 12 bags of 100kg white garri and 12 bags of 12kg yellow garri. 

Others were: 35 pieces of 6x3x6-inch mattresses, 40 medium size blankets, routine and anti-malarial drugs, two 10cc Bajaj Boxer motorcycles, three grinding machines and butterfly sewing machines. 

The items also included: sanitary pads, diapers, 20 pieces of adire tie-and-dye fabrics as well as 30 pieces of Ankara cloth. 

Presenting the items on Tuesday in Owerri, the Director-General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, said the donation was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

Jamoh, who was represented by the Director, Legal Services and Board Secretary, Mr Victor Egejuru, added that the items would assist the state government to cater for disaster victims. 

He pledged continued support of the agency to the state government. 

Receiving the items, Mrs Julia Ukaigwe, the Head of Administration and Finance, Government House, commended NIMASA for the gesture. 

Ukaigwe said the relief materials arrived at a critical time, especially now that the state was faced with so many challenges, including insecurity. 

While noting that government alone could not cater for the needs of all the citizens, she said Gov. Hope Uzodimma had done so much in alleviating the problems of the Imo people. 

She appealed for more assistance from individuals and corporate bodies to further benefit those yet to reach. nan.
