The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the introduction of the NIMC Pre-Enrolment Portal, a digital solution designed to enhance efficiency and improve user experience in the National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment process.
According to the Commission, the newly introduced portal allows applicants within Nigeria and in the Diaspora to conveniently capture and submit their biodata online before visiting enrolment centres for biometric capture.
A statement issued on Friday by Dr Kayode Adegoke,
Head, Corporate Communications explained that the initiative forms part of NIMCโ€™s broader strategy to decongest enrolment centres nationwide and streamline service delivery.
NIMC noted that the deployment of the Pre-Enrolment Portal reflects the unwavering commitment of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, to strengthening institutional performance through technology-driven solutions. The initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which places emphasis on efficient public service delivery, digital transformation and inclusive national development.
The Commission highlighted several key benefits of the Pre-Enrolment Portal, including simplified enrolment through online capture and management of NIN biodata prior to biometric registration, reduced congestion and waiting time at enrolment centres through appointment scheduling, and improved data accuracy as applicants directly input their information.
Other benefits include secure and confidential handling of user data through enhanced security measures, seamless online upload of required supporting documents, improved overall user experience, increased enrolment accuracy, and greater operational efficiency.
NIMC encouraged all prospective NIN applicants to take advantage of the Pre-Enrolment Portal to enjoy a smoother, faster and more efficient enrolment process. The Commission reaffirmed that the initiative underscores its commitment to building and sustaining a reliable digital identity ecosystem in support of national development.
Applicants are advised to access the Pre-Enrolment Portal via penrol.nimc.gov.ng to begin the enrolment process.
