The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said its Ward-Level Enrolment Drive, which officially commenced on February 16, 2026, is ongoing and progressing steadily across the federation.
The Commission reiterated that the National Identification Number (NIN) remains a foundational requirement for accessing critical government services in Nigeria. It therefore encouraged all citizens and legal residents who are yet to enrol to take advantage of the decentralised exercise by presenting themselves at designated ward enrolment centres in their respective communities.
A statement issued by
Dr Kayode Adegoke,
Head, Corporate Communications,
NIMC, explained that
the ward-level initiative is aimed at deepening identity coverage and ensuring that every Nigerian and resident is captured in the national identity database.
