NIPR Confers Honorary Membership On Hadiza Bala Usman

The Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, and Head, Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), Hadiza Bala Usman, on Thursday received a delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on a courtesy visit to the CRDCU office in Abuja.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the maiden NIPR International Women’s Day Celebration, Mrs. Lami Tumaka, alongside other members of the Institute.
In her welcome remarks, the Special Adviser commended the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations for its sustained efforts in shaping credible narratives within Nigeria’s political, corporate, and public sectors. She noted that the Institute has continued to play an important role in promoting professionalism, ethical communication, and strategic public engagement across institutions in the country.
She also applauded the Institute’s initiative to celebrate and recognise the contributions of women in the public relations profession, describing it as a laudable effort that highlights the increasing impact of women in leadership and communication roles.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Tumaka expressed appreciation to the Special Adviser for granting the delegation audience.
She commended the Special Adviser and her team for their dedication to strengthening performance monitoring and service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) through the work of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit.
She noted that the Special Adviser has distinguished herself as a strong leader and an inspiration to many women across Nigeria. She added that the Institute considered her worthy of the recognition not only for her current role in advancing governance reforms but also for her remarkable antecedents in public service, particularly her historic appointment as the first female Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
Mrs Tamaka further explained that the purpose of the visit was to formally invite the Special Adviser to serve as the Keynote Speaker at the Institute’s maiden International Women’s Day celebration.
During the visit, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations also formally conferred on Ms. Usman Honorary Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in recognition of her contributions to public service, leadership, and strategic communication in governance.
The Special Adviser expressed appreciation to the Institute for the recognition and for considering her worthy of the honour.
She reaffirmed the importance of strategic communication and professional public relations in strengthening governance, building public trust, and enhancing institutional accountability.
She also reiterated her commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women’s leadership, professional development, and greater inclusion in governance and public service.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of official correspondence from the Institute and a brief discussion on opportunities for continued collaboration between the NIPR and the Office of the Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination.
