The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, is set to headline the Female Talent Pool Initiative — a strategic programme aimed at identifying, attracting, nurturing, and empowering women across Nigeria’s maritime sector.
City Business News reports that the virtual ceremony is scheduled to hold March 25th, 2026
The initiative is designed to promote gender inclusion and strengthen female participation in an industry traditionally dominated by men, while also building a pipeline of future female leaders.
Also scheduled to speak on the panel is the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mrs. Kenechi Edith Okezie, alongside the Port Manager of Rivers Ports Complex. They are expected to highlight the benefits of gender balance in the maritime industry and inspire emerging female professionals to reach their full potential.
The event will feature Abimbola Ini-Abasi, a leading women’s empowerment advocate, who will set the tone with data-driven insights and practical strategies for advancing women’s inclusion in the sector. Other notable contributors include Halimatu Abdul and media personality Toke Makinwa, while Ayo Mairo-Ese will moderate the session.
According to a statement, the initiative represents a bold institutional commitment by the Nigerian Ports Authority to bridge the gender gap and reshape the maritime landscape by amplifying women’s voices at the highest levels and fostering the next generation of industry leaders.
The Female Talent Pool Initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for sustainable inclusion, innovation, and growth within Nigeria’s maritime ecosystem.
