The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has called for stronger collaboration with state governments and other stakeholders to improve transport safety and prevent accidents.
The Director-General of the bureau, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., made the call in Abuja on Tuesday when the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Mr Tijjani Ahmed Galadima, and his running mate, Mr Adamu Kamale, visited the NSIB headquarters.
Captain Badeh noted that safety recommendations arising from investigations are designed to address identified deficiencies and provide practical measures that can help regulators, operators and other stakeholders improve their systems.
He further explained that the bureau’s work goes beyond investigating accidents after they occur, stressing the importance of learning from previous occurrences and translating investigation findings into preventive actions.
Speaking on the purpose of the visit, Mr Tijjani Galadima reiterated that the delegation came principally to appreciate the NSIB leadership for what he described as the good work being done under Capt. Badeh.
Galadima said the bureau’s activities were important to the safety and wellbeing of Nigerians, stressing that effective transportation safety is essential to economic development, mobility and the protection of lives and property.
